Aquatic Animal Health Subprogram Scientific Conference
The Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) Aquatic Animal
Health Subprogram Scientific Conference - 26-28 July 2005, Cairns QLD.
The FRDC's Aquatic Animal Health Subprogram is holding a Scientific Conference
at Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns on 26-28 July 2005. The Conference will
include all aspects of Aquatic Animal Health and is open to all aquatic
animal health specialists — not just subprogram participants. The
theme for the plenary lectures will be aquatic animal immunology (a priority
area within the Subprogram’s R&D plan).
Dr Chris Secombes, eminent fish immunologist, from the University of Aberdeen
is the keynote speaker at the Scientific Conference and will be giving
three presentations during the course of the conference:
- Recent advances in elucidating the cytokine network of fish
- Antibacterial peptides in fish
- Functional genomic approaches to study host- pathogen interactions.
This will be a good opportunity for those AAHS projects that have just
recently been completed (or still in the process of being completed) to
be presented to the aquatic animal health community - in particular, those
projects that were not presented at the 1st conference in Geelong 2003.
The Final Report and the Proceedings of the Conference (on CD-Rom) will
be freely available to interested parties shortly after the conference.
