Need

On behalf of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) are administering funding for further trialling the full offsetting of oxygen demand of Atlantic salmon in Macquarie Harbour (MHOP). As part of this large program of research, a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) will be established as an integral part of the broader program. This committee will provide technical and strategic input plus support for integration of research and public reporting to ensure project outputs are aligned with the scope and expectations set out in the Funding Order.
The PAC membership will comprise of (as a minimum) a representative from:
• Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas)
• Environmental Protection Authority Tasmania (EPA Tas)
• Chief Executive Officer of Salmon Tasmania
- Tassal R&D nominee
- Petuna R&D nominee
- Huon Auquaculture nominee
- Professor Jeff Ross (Institute of Marine and Antarctic Science - IMAS)
- FRDC representative (Project Manager and Extension Officer)
- Hydro Tasmania Representative
- Tasmanian Aboriginal representative
The secretariat/Chair is responsible for coordinating all PAC-related activities. This includes scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing agendas and project documentation, recording advice and action items, and maintaining an accurate record of PAC correspondence.

Objectives

1. Chair and co-ordinate the PAC
2. Provide the link between the PAC and the Program Board for the OOPMH program of research
3. Support the OOPMH communication strategy development, co-ordination and implementation as required.
