Western Rock Lobster (WRL) is the peak industry body dedicated to representing the interests of the Western Rock Lobster commercial fishing industry. Acting as a collaborative partner with government, WRL plays a vital role in the co-management of the West Coast Rock Lobster Managed Fishery, while providing strategic guidance on crucial matters including resource access security, social license, market resilience, member advocacy, and research and development.

Find out more on the WRL's website.

Industry Partnership Agreement

FRDC is a key partner for planning and investment in the research, development extension needed to achieve its vision and strategic objectives. WRL works collaboratively with the FRDC, the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and industry members to identify and prioritise RD&E investments.

Research Priorities

Research, Development and Extension Plan

WRL has developed a Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) Plan that provides a framework to identify and invest in key strategic research needs of WRL stakeholders - see the plan at https://westernrocklobster.org/research-development-and-extension-plan/

Call for Applications

The FRDC invests through a flexible approach. Part of this approach allows the Research Advisory Committees (RACs), Industry Partnership Agreements (IPAs) and Subprograms to call for applications based on their priorities up to three times per year – see whether this IPA has put forward any priorities in the current call for applications.
