Following a sell-out event in 2022, Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) has announced the biennial Seafood Directions conference to be held in Hobart from 10-12 September 2024.

Seafood Directions is the fishing and aquaculture’s leading forum for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and networking, with the three-day conference program looking to attract thousands of attendees from all over the world.

SIA Chief Executive Officer, Veronica Papacosta, is thrilled to be holding the Seafood Directions conference.

“Seafood Directions 2024 will explore innovative strategies, emerging technologies and sustainable practices that will shape the seafood industry’s trajectory.”

“The conference will provide an exceptional opportunity for delegates to gain insights from renowned experts, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and forge valuable connections with industry peers. Attendees will have ample opportunities to explore Hobart's natural beauty, enjoy its renowned seafood delicacies, and immerse themselves in the local culture.” Veronica says.

The program will feature keynote presentations, panel discussion, interactive workshops, and the ever popular, National Seafood Industry Awards, celebrating the contribution of individuals, businesses, and organisations to the Australian fishing and aquaculture sectors over the last two years.

The event is being held in Hobart, a choice that Veronica says will highlight Tasmania’s diverse fisheries sectors.

“Tasmania is renowned for its thriving commercial seafood industry, innovative aquaculture facilities, leading wild-catch fisheries, world-class post-harvest ventures and progressive feed producers.” Veronica says.

Outside of the conference, attendees can look forward to Hobart’s vibrant culinary scene, with the Internationally praised and award-winning Mures Tasmania being only a short walk from the conference’s location, the Hotel Grand Chancellor.

The Seafood Directions was established in 1999 as a Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) initiative to provide an industry forum for the exchange of ideas. FRDC remains a key sponsor for Seafood Directions 2022, 2024 and 2026, under the stewardship of Seafood Industry Australia.
