FRDC is pleased to collaborate with a range of government, fisheries and aquaculture sectors in the development of AQUAPLAN 2022-2027, released today by Senator the Hon. Murray Watt, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

AQUAPLAN brings together a network interested parties to work together to help improve the productivity and profitability of Australia’s aquatic animal industries, and further protect aquatic environments.
FRDC supports a range of AQUAPLAN initiatives with projects such as 2021-048 “Ready, set, go!” - preparing for emergency disease outbreaks in aquatic animals, and 2021-061 – developing guidelines to investigate and understand disease outbreaks. FRDC has also invested in the Cooperative Research Centre for Solving Antimicrobial Resistance in Agribusiness, Food, and Environments.
FRDC Managing Director Patrick Hone sees AQUAPLAN as a critical guide to informing the future research development and extension needs for fishing and aquaculture.
“AQUAPLAN is pivotal in shaping FRDCs investments to ensure Australia remains disease free and can respond to any disease outbreaks.”
