FRDC are seeking expression of interests for Research Advisory Committee Membership in each State, the Commonwealth, and the Northern Territory. Current, former, and new members are welcome to apply for this opportunity.
Research Advisory Committees (RACs) play a vital role in ensuring FRDC investment delivers positive impact through investment in research, development, and extension (RD&E).
There are eight RACs – one representing each State, the Commonwealth, and the Northern Territory – providing advice on RD&E needs.
RAC membership includes a mix of representation and expertise from areas such as the fishing and aquaculture sectors, post‐harvest, research, recreational fishing, and natural resource management, providing the committees with the necessary situational awareness. Independent Chairs lead the RAC process with FRDC providing management and extension support.
The primary role of RAC members is to be aware of and responsive to the opportunities and challenges of stakeholders within each jurisdiction to guide RD&E investments that achieve positive impacts within and among stakeholder groups.
RAC members will be required to attend at least two committee meetings a year (being online or face to face), with FRDC anticipating increasing numbers of RAC meetings hosted via Microsoft Teams.
RAC members may be eligible to claim a sitting fee. Sitting fees for members enable FRDC to support those that take time away from the jobs and/or businesses to contribute to RAC meeting. This excludes members that are receiving remuneration from government, university, seafood industry councils, and industry peak bodies. Membership will be for a 3‐year term.
The RAC member selection process will be undertaken using a selection panel, comprising the relevant Director of Fisheries and FRDC.
Express your interest in membership of a Research Advisory Committee by completing the online application form.
