Innovation is more than just profits; it's about the future of seafood.

A group of forward-thinking fishers are riding the wave of innovation, becoming true pioneers in their respective fields.

Check out a new thing or two from this innovative bunch!

Ocean Insights: Strengthening Seafood Production

These ocean enthusiasts (David Gray, Bryn Westerberg, Paddy Daniels) are shaking things up, venturing into new products, reimagining old favourites, and revolutionising the fishing process.

Dive Deeper - Paddy Daniels

Paddy Daniels, like many other fishers in Western Australia, continues to embrace innovative tools and practices to increase business efficiency and profitability.

This allows him and his crew to spend more time where it matters most – with their families.

Ocean Insights: Setting Limits

South Australia's Marine Scalefish Fishery has undergone a significant transformation from an open-access to a quota-based system, resulting in improved livelihoods for fishers and a healthier fish stock.

This positive change is a direct result of the collaborative work between fishers and scientists at the South Australian Research and Development Institute.

By testing new mesh sizes and fishing methods, they have successfully reduced bycatch and taken crucial steps to restore fish populations to a blossoming state.

Dive Deeper - Mike Soady

Mike Soady's commitment to innovation extends to his fishing nets, where he constantly experiments with different cuts, tapers, bycatch reduction devices, and turtle exclusion devices to improve their effectiveness.
